Common Blind Repairs per Type of Blind

Blind repairs vary based on the type and style of blind. Here are some examples of common repairs:

Mini-Blind:  Mini blinds consist of ½”, 1” or 1 ½” horizontal slats that stack at the top of the window. Slats are typically made of aluminum, plastic, or wood. mini blind closeup

Wood Blind: Wood blinds consist of 1”, 1 ½”, 2” or 2 ½” horizontal wood slats that stack at the top of the window.

Faux Wood Blind: Wood blinds consist of 2” or 2 ½” horizontal wood slats that stack at the top of the window.

Venetian Blind: Wood blinds consist of 2” or 2 ½” horizontal wood slats that stack at the top of the window.

Vertical Blind:  Vertical blinds are a series of vanes, or slats, that run up and down hanging from a headrail at the top of the window.

Cellular/Honeycomb Shade:

Cellular / Honeycomb are fabric pleated shades that form a ‘cell’. They raise and lower by a number of different lift systems.

Common Repairs:  Lift cord replacement; cord lock replacement; cord loop replacement; clutch replacement; end cap replacement

Pleated Shade:  

Pleated shades are a fabric shade that makes a zig-zag pattern. They are similar to Cellular / Honeycomb shades except that Pleated shades are only single layered.

RV Day / Night Shade:

RV Day / Night Shades are dual fabric shades.  Generally, one side is for filtering light and the other is for room darkening.  They are secured to the wall with a tensioner to prevent them from clanking around while the RV is moving.

Common Repairs:  Cord replacement; tensioner and end cap replacement

Roller shade:

Roller shades are flat shades that roll up on a tube, or dowel.  They are typically made of a fabric, vinyl, or screen material.

Common Repairs:  Cord or chain repair or replacement; clutch replacement; fabric telescoping adjustment

Roman Shade:

Roman Shades are fabric shades that fold when raised and lowered.  They can appear flat or looped when in the down position.

Common Repairs:  Lift cord replacement; cord lock replacement; cord loop replacement; clutch replacement

Woven Wood Shade:

Woven wood shades are made from woods, bamboos, reeds and grasses which filter light according to the weaving of the materials.woven wood shade closeup
