Being able to search the Internet for repair parts for blinds, or any other repairable item is essential to finding the correct part, or finding the part at all. The Internet is an incredible resource for repair items that would have been unavailable before we had the “Information Superhighway”. Because of this, we have the opportunities to fix items that we would consider disposable 20 years ago.
Here are some great tips for accurate and successful Internet searching:
- Use accurate keywords – Make sure the words you use describe the type of item and the brand, if necessary. Make sure you spell the words correctly. In other words, if you search for blind ‘chord’, you might yield links to musical ‘chords’ for a songs related to the inability to see.
- Use auto complete – As you are typing your search words, Google will display helpful results in a drop-down list. Use these to your advantage as needed.
- Don’t use common words, punctuation, suffixes or capitalization – Search engines usually don’t recognize them, so they’re unnecessary unless your searching for an “exact phrase” inside quotes.
The bottom line is that Internet search engines are incredible tools that, when used properly, can make our lives much more effective.
